SAN Comparison

Last Modified: 2012-02-15
We curently have a Pillar Axiom 600 SAN (Oracle recently bought Pillar). Were comparing this SAN with a EMC VNX 5300. Of course both vendors are saying their product is a better choice, so I need to see what the SAN experts say.

Oracle (Pillar) is saying that the VNX 5300 cannot fail over a lUN from one controller to another if one controller dies, the Axiom can. It was also mentioned that the VNX 5300 is an entry level SAN and the VNX line is having problems, any truth to that?

What I like is that EMC has the replication included in the price but with Oracle you have to pay for the amount of TB you plan on replication, so with data growth that price increases.

Have there been any independent studies or any of you with experiences that can verify anyo this?  Thanks.

No NAS, just block level (as of now at least). I'll take a look at that link.

I was able to register for the link with a mailinator.com address - that way they can't bug you about it.
