Switching old Blackberry to new Blackberry (BB Enterprise Server)

I'm setting up a new blackberry for a user that is using an older model blackberry. I need to make sure to replicate his current device information, contacts, settings, e-mails, etc. onto his new device. I plan on doing this via Blackberry Desktop Manager.

He is currently configured on our company's blackberry enterprise server and I am wondering what I will need to do to setup his new device on the enterprise server in order to enable company e-mail use, etc. I've never gone through this process with a blackberry before. Once I get the new phone activated and configured, will I just need to treat it as a new device and run a "new device" setup in the Blackberry Manager software on the server?

Thanks

Hi,

If the BlackBerry is configured through a BES against Exchange, Louts Domino or Groupwise, then contacts, email, calendar etc. will automatically be synchronised with his Exchange Server.

What version of BES are you using - if you are using BES 5, then there is a new function called BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager which would enable you to switch services to a new device and backup the old one in the process.

Regards.

Looks like we are running 4.1.4.17

What do I need to do in the BES in order to have it recognize the new device and pull over the Exchange information?
