Hello Experts,

I just wanted to run something by you. I am getting ready to begin a small project for a client and will be adding 4 computer to their current workgroup of 4 computers brining the total to 8 computers. My feeling is that when networking 5 or more computers, a dedicated server is a good idea and especially when hosting a database like SQL which will be the case here. We could continue to operate in workgroup mode with 8 computers but with SQL, to me a dedicated server is best for a number of reasons (peformance and security being two big ones).

Could some of you chime in on this topic? Are there specific reasons one should run SQL on a domain rather than on a workgroup?
