Hi - I'm on HostGator shared hosting and for some reason when I added PHP 5.3 reference to the .htaccess I'm getting these errors in my error_log

The tech at Host Gator says it's my problem with my PHP code.  I thought ok  maybe it is.  I cleared out the error_log and created this simple program.

<?
echo "Hello";
exit;
?>

It generated the error_log as seen above.

Is it me? or does the help desk not know what he is talking about?

I'm not using any of those modules at this time so the errors probably don't matter but I hate people telling me it's my problem.
