Citrix - putting Application icons on the desktop

I have two Citrix farms - Presentation 4.5 with all rollups and a XenApp 6.5 (in planning stages).  I want to selectively (dependent upon who logs in) place published application icons onto the users local desktop or into their start menu.

Can someone clarify the steps and client plug-ins needed to do this.

You will need a XenApp Services Site.  Also, on the properties of the published applications, you will need to select the options to place the app on the start menu and or desktop.

You will also need to have the full online plugin on the user's PCs (latest included within the Citrix Receiver Enterprise version).

@ Mutawadi and @ CarlWebster,

Thanks for the input.  I understood that we'd need the XenApp Services Site and the online plug-in, but what I was principally looking for was how to go about selectively applying or limiting the ability.  For some I want then going through the Web Interface and others, I'd like them to just log on to their computer, and the icons would be available to launch the apps - regardless, I'd like to explore the possible options of how to control who gets what.  What are the factors controlling - is it just whoever has the online plug-in or are there other ways to control it?

@ Mutawadi,

Using the online plugin-full, as long as the client is logged in to the OS, with pass-through authentication, won't a license be tied up?...

Is there a way to "launch" the connection selectively and then once connected have it populate an icons/folders of a published application set to the Desktop or Start Menu?  And once connected, can we have it log off the session after a period of inactivity?

Basically, I want the convenience for a user to access his authorized applications from icons on his desktop, but I want the session and the license freed at the end of his or her work shift.

Thanks...

A license is only used once a session is created.  One of the supposed drawbacks to the new session pre-launch feature of XenApp 6.5.

@Mutawadi,

Thank you for that refreshing depth of understanding.  I wish you were on Citrix's writing/editorial staff - they make all of their documentation unnecessarily difficult to read.  It's almost as if they have some senior troll editing and revising the work of their writer to ensure that it's worded so difficultly that they would weed out all but the most dedicated of disciples.  Just my opinion.

Regardless, thank you!
