IMA Service not starting on a cloned XenApp server

New XenApp Servers are cloned from a prept VM template (Server 2008 R2 and XenApp 6.5 on vSphere 5).

Config is applied by GPO (RDS Lic Server, Citrix Lic Server, SQL Server, Zone). After server boots MFcom service is in "starting ...." state and as a result IMA service fails to start.

with XenApp 6.5 you should prepare the Server before cloning.
you need MS Sysprep and the Citrix "Prepare server for Imaging and provisioning".
You can find the citrix Tool within the "Citrix -Server-Role-manager"
Click "Change Konfiguration" at XenApp.

This can also happen if you have EdgeSight agent installed in your base image.

Please try this:
From CTX127922:
Stop the mfcom.exe service using Task Manager.
Execute the following commands:
Dsmaint recreatelhc
Dsmaint recreaterade
Start the IMA Service and MFCOM Service.
Refer the below article although it is for PS 4 but was handy in same kind of senario ,

Also verify the datastore connectivity by creating a DSN manually in ODBC, also confirm if there are some DCOM events in event log , check permissions if there is any .

As most of the cases the issue does not resolve even after recreating rade and LHC as suggested by dkotte .

No Eventlog entrys.

DSN is the way to look for.

c:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\Independent Management Architecture\mf20.dsn is incomplete. I don't thing this is an error cause the missing entrys should be deployed by GPO (I have done this).

For now the problem is solved by editing the mf20.dsn mannually, but I will open a new question to get rid of this step.

Hi CarlWebster/MrGraves,
I'm having the same problem, after imaging XA6.5 with PVS device prep, the image cannot start IMA and MFCOM sits on starting
Edgesight is installed on base image, is this a problem?
