Apache Tomcat/7.0.21 username password not working.

Hi there;

I have Tomcat/7.0.21 coming with Windows XAMPP. When I try to go into Tomcat Manager, I end up with a username password box.

I didn't know the credentials (whether I set it before or not), so I tried to assign/change.

I add the following credentials, yet still the same problem which is:

type Status report

message Access to the requested resource has been denied

description Access to the specified resource (Access to the requested resource has been denied) has been forbidden.

Configuration of my tomcat-users.xml is as follows. What to do? I even don't need to set any credential for this.

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>

Ah, I did that before posting the question and enable a user and password as seen above.

Usually XAMPP-type releases have their own management console which they expect you to use.  You might not be changing the right tomcat-users.xml.  Search your file system for all instances of files named tomcat-users.xml to see if there's another one that's really being used.

Also -- often there's a user login realm associated with a webapp.  That's configured in server.xml, and it can take the place of the default tomcat-users.xml configuration.
