Publisher 2010 error : There is not enough memory to complete this operation.

Publisher 2010 error : There is not enough memory to complete this operation.  To make memory available , close other programs and try again.

I am getting this error opening up a publisher 2010 document. This error occurs on multiple windows 7 machines as well as windows xp. I am having other another user report same error with a different Publisher document. I have updated to office 2010 sp1 with the same result. Also closing all programs does not allow it to open.Any ideas?

Thank you

mike10_13--What does Task Manager say about amount of memory being used by Publisher?  How does that compare to total memory available?
From what you say, it seems a problem with the installation of Publisher.

My computer has 4 gb of total memory and  Before opening publisher my computer is using 2.06 gb. I open publisher my computer then uses 2.11 gb.

Publisher itself is using 14,596 k . and I have available 1.89 gb.
It's most likely a font that you don't have available on your system that Publisher is trying to open. Use font Substitution.

I've had this question open for quite some time and never found a resolution.  Specifically, it has something to do with an update (either Windows or application - but more likely application as I'm experiencing it on a Vista desktop as well as Windows 7).  The Publisher documents have been created on these PC's that are experiencing the issues.  Once the (unknown) update is applied, the files can no longer be opened.

I'm at my wits end with this and it's driving me crazy.  I did a system restore to an earlier date to temporarily resolve before, but this is not a permanent solution.  I am glad to see that someone else is having the problem, but I sure wish we could find some help on this.
I have read that it is a font issue however the person who created it did so within office 2010 and now it wont let her open it even on the computer she created it on.
Yes, I have a similar issue here.  The users created these Publisher documents using Publisher 2010 on the same PCs they are using today and suddenly cannot open them after receiving some sort of update.  If I restore the PC to a previous point in time, the file(s) open successfully.
