Cannnot Connect to Cisco 5505 to d/l ASDM

Hey Experts!  I got a new laptop and I'm trying to install the ASDM software.  When I open a browser and type "https://x.x.x.x" (where x.x.x.x = ip address of Cisco 5505) I get the message "The server at x.x.x.x is taking too long to respond."

I'm able to get into the 5505 with ASDM on my *old* laptop (running XP Pro SP3), but cannot d/l the ASDM software to my *new* laptop (running Windows 7 64-bit).

I really hope someone can point out something easy that I'm overlooking.  :)

While looking for that statement I noticed the statement "http server enable 8443" which prompted me to use "https://x.x.x.x:8443" and it worked.

Now, however, I'm experiencing a new issue.  I d/l'd the installer but when I run it I get a message stating that the Java Runtime Environment is not installed on my laptop.  I downloaded and installed the latest JRE from Sun, rebooted the machine, and still get this same error message.

Should I open a new question about this or can we continue with it on this same thread?
This sounds like a Java/OS issue. I know routers, switches and firewalls. Don't know if someone else might be able to help.
