I have this Motorola SBG940 router http://www.speedguide.net/routers/motorola-sbg940-wireless-cable-gateway-356 which connects the computer that we use to record all our TV shows on, to the internet. It looses the connection regularly. I keep the Windows 7 computer up-to-date and the anti-virus and anti-spyware up-to-date and the ethernet port is built-in. I have tried replacing the ethernet cable to make sure that isn't the problem. I wanted to do a firmware update for the router but am not finding it. Assistance is greatly appreciated.

There is no mention of firmware update in the manual. If it is dropping connection, I would be more inclined to replace it. This appears to be around 2009 vintage? Probably past its use by date.
