Since you didn't note any specific hardware, we have no idea if there is a mini PCI-express slot available so it could just be combined with the WiFi card (I have never seen a WiFi card for the older mini-PCI slot with bluetooth 2.1 built in), so that pretty-much limits our recommendations to USB devices.
e.g.
ASUS USB-BT211 or
IOGear GBU421.

If installed for everyone from an adminstrator account, I've never had a problem accessing any bluetooth features from a regular user-level account. What particular problem are you trying to avoid?

Thanks so much for your reply and for recommending modules as well. The problem I'm trying to avoid is have the computer ask me for admin privileges to install drivers for the bluetooth module

Ahhhhh... well, not requiring admin level to work is quite different than not requiring admin level to install. I'm not sure what you want to do is even possible.

Asus BT211 seems to be the best bluetooth adaptor
