HP Insight Manager on ESXi 5

I am kind of new HP's management tools.  I am trying to figure out how to get Insight Manager working.  When i browse to http://esxi:2381 it fails.  What am I missing??  Here is what I've done:

- I downloaded the HP/ESXi 5 integrated iso from here
- I also tried the offline packages at here
- I think it's installed according to the following:

http://esxi:2381 - this does not function for an ESXi server. You use the vSphere Client to check Hardware Status and not a browser, which connects to the Insight Agents.

ESXi 5.0 (ESXi) is not compatible with HP Insight Agents. You need to use the OEM version of VMware ESXi 5.0 (the HP version) which includes the CIM providers.

So did you download ESXi 5.0 from VMware or HP?

if you downloaded from HP, you already have the CIM providers, if you downloaded from VMware, you need to manually install the OEM CIM Providers from HP?

Which HP Server do you have?

To check the health of the HP Server, you select Host > Hardware Status using the vSphere Client, if you have the OEM HP version of ESXi 5.0.

or you can add to HP Systems Insight Manager, that you must have pre-installed on another server.

thanks for the response, hanccocka

I downloaded it from HP

I can see the hardware information in vcenter.  what i'm actually trying to do is maintenance on the drives.  I currently have a warning on the logical drive 2 "Ready for recovery" and i'm trying to rebuild it.  I restarted and tried the bios but it was very limited.  What's the best way to get raid controller access if i don't have insight access?

Unfortunately, no maintenance on any RAID array can be performed within ESXi.

You can either select F1 or F2 at the POST/Array Controller Prompt or

You will need to shutdown ESXi and the Server, BOOT from CDROM/USB Smart Start BOOTable CDROM, and run the Array Configuration Utility. (ACU).

eitherway you must shutdown ESXi and the server.

HP currently do not have any method for manging RAID within ESXi.

Well that's disappointing...  Oh well, it is what it is.  Just to clarify, is SmartStart what you're referring to? http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/smartstart/benefits.html

Thanks for the help, anccocka!

Yes, it is. HP should have made HP Array Management availble when ESXi first appeared, and now there is only ESXi 5.0, it's possible something may appear in the future.

That is the correct link, you should have received a CDROM with your server, to set the server up.

otherwise download the latest ISO, and burn to CD/DVD.
