Hi,

I have been using Acronis for a lot of years on this server with no problems.

As it is an older server that is still required for some apps, we have now virtualized it on an Vmware ESXi Server with no Problems and working fine

I have done this at a few places and the problem i am about to tell you is not appearing at those.

When the Acronis Image that Runs to a Workstation HDD at night it is now failing continually with the below error:

A possible reason might be poor media quality.

What is the target of backup? Network or internal drive?

try changing the backup path temporarily to a different location and run the backup task
If the task ends successfully on a different location then i am afraid you will have to check the primary backup device, if the status is healthy

So you backup to the internal HDD on the same machine but via network? Are you referring to the share?
