can somebody tell me how i can patch my sharepoint servers.

my plan would be first patch the OS , then update the sharepoint

I am guessing that sharepoint update, service pack , is available trough windows update.

the reason i am doing this is due to error messages i am having on sharepoint

    Event ID 6398
    Event ID 6482
    Event ID 7076

and there is an hotfix KB Article Number(s): 946517 and this is comes with the sp3.

any recommendation about this hotfix

SharePoint 2007 updates are available here:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sharepointserver/bb735839

OS updates are different than SharePoint updates.  When you deploy SharePoint Server 2007 updates, you need to deploy the WSS 3.0 updates first.  Highlevel steps...

1. Stop all SharePoint related services on all SharePoint servers
2. Install WSS 3.0 SP3 on Central Admin server
3. Install WSS 3.0 SP3 on other servers
4. Install OfficeServer SP3 on Central Admin Server
5. Install OfficeServer SP3 on other servers
6. Run ConfigWizard on Central Admin Server
7. Run Config Wizard on other servers
8. Reboot if prompted
9. Start SharePoint services
