Wifi card installation on HP dv8t -1200 Pavilion

Hello,
Okay I admite my failure, but HP was once a reliable company.  Those days are gone!
Here's my problem, you might have heard of it, the HP Forum is over flowing with complaints about this.
The dv8t – 1200 Pavilion has a problem with its Wifi/WLan card, actually it is the motherboard’s poor engineering, manufacturing.
Getting to the chase here; I spoke with HP and they sent me a new wifi card.  When I spoke to them, they did not mention having to “REINSTALL THE OS” in order for the wifi card to work, or work properly.  I installed the new wifi card and it works, just not well enough.  And I have worked with other wlan cards, having to install its driver, but never the entire OS.
So here is my question, even though I am told by HP (the experts…right), I ask you; do I really need to reinstall the OS?  This to me is ridiculous.
Comments, laughs?

If you have installed many programs in your pc and everything is going fine in windows then no need to install OS , just Uninstall and install WLAN adaptor completely again from Device Manager. If some of your friends having USB and PCI wlan adaptor then you can check it. Other option is that if you have good bandwidth then you can try this download the Ubuntu OS which free and near about 650mb disk. No need to install Ubuntu , just boot with the ubuntu disk and try your internet.
