Hello experts I have an  HP ProLiant  DL380  G5 server I have 4 SCSI drives running on the sas controller and also 4 extra empty Bays. I would assume these extra 4 Bays are running on the same controller these are 2.5 inch hard drive bays. My question is can I install Sata drive's into these 4 empty bays. I realize they will not be able to run in the same parade as the SAS drives. And can I run the large SATA drive's 2 GB each

You can mix SAS and SATA drives in the same disk cage, but you can not use them in the same RAID array. You will need to create new array. Regarding the difference in size it is logical anyway.

For what drives are supported you should look at smart array controller quickspecs.
DL380  G5 server comes with E200 or P400 controller.

I think that officially supported 2,5 inch drives are available up to 1TB, but if you manage to find bigger you should not have any problems.

If you put 4 pieces of HP 1TB 3G SATA 7.2K rpm SFF (2.5-inch) Hot Plug Midline 1yr Warranty Hard Drive 625609-B21 it will 100% work, for bigger drives I can not be 100% sure.

I can not tell you that, because I don't know your location and even if I knew that, the options at your place can be different than here.
I would suggest you to find HP partner near you:
http://h20465.www2.hp.com/GPL/search.aspx?language_code=en&country_code=UK
That is for UK, but on left you have option to choose county -> find HP partners link->buy from hp partnerONE partner->Local HP Partners
