TextEdit style shortcut?

In going  through the TextEdit documentation I don't see a way to attach a key board shortcut to a style, as you can with Word.  For example, in Word I have Alt+2 assigned to my second-level headings and I find it very convenient to just select the heading and hit Alt+2 to set its style.  Is this doable with TextEdit?

Thanks

Have you noticed that you can actually make styles in TextEdit. A bit primitive but you will find it under Format>Font>Styles...

When you have made the styles you can access them in the upper left corner, the leftmost icon. But no ability to set a keyboard shortcut for it.

There is a way around this however:
Lets say you make Helvetica Bold 18pt as a style and call it h1 and Helvetica Regular 11pt as p style. When you have applied one of each style you can do: Alt+Cmd+C on one style and then Alt+Cmd+V on a new text and it will apply the copied style to that text.
