asp.net horizontal menus appear vertical briefly?

I've noticed that on some complex menus, my horizontal menus appear vertical then 'snap' horizontal when the page is fully loaded.  Any way to avoid this?  Its kinda disconcerting when there's a lot of extra "garbage" showing on the screen to be corrected once everything loads.

Thanks
