I am writing some software to control a keyboard through a computer and need a RS232 to midi cable.  I cannot use a USB to MIDI.  Anyone know of such an item?

I would like to control a music keyboard using the rs232 port on my computer.  I am having a problem finding a usb to midi cable or converter.  I have a usb to midi cable but after looking at some communications examples using usb it looks a lot easier using the rs232 port.  Anyone have any ideas.  Thanks!

There may or not be cables, can't seem to find any.

Have found projects that implement the interface.  You'd have to build these or find someone to do it.

See http://www.edaboard.com/thread80835.html and http://www.maxmidi.com/diy/serial/8051/ and http://response-box.com/gear/decabox-rs232-to-midi/ for example.

Also see http://www.compuphase.com/electronics/midi_rs232.htm

Although USB to midi cables exist the author of one of these projects explains why he went to RS232 as it overcomes the latency of the USB.
