RPC Service unavailable

Hi all,

I have an issue with two servers that are reporting 1722 the RPC server is unavailable when I run repadmin /ReplSum.

All servers have firewall policies applied at GPO level and the service is running Remote Procedure Call (RPC) on all of them.

Can anyone help with why these two might be having an issue. All servers in question are Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, they are all on the same subnet and located in the same physical/logical site.

did you recently change the IPs ?
Ccheck the DNS records - make sure that no ISP DNS is used from the DC

Hi Sivanov,

I can ping and lookup all hosts via their HOSTNAME, FQDN and IP without issue.
that,s good the net is fine and running :-)
but wrong DNS record could misroute the RPC.
so please check that both DC use the same DNS - (as you wrote they are sitting in the same place anyway)

Pease use this artickle to verify DNS and ports. (all commands are well explained)

to troublshott 1722 we need usually  to :
check conectivity
check services
check name resolution

hope it will help
Cheers
Svet.
