Search Engine for File Server on Intranet?

Are there any recommendations out there for a search engine that can index a large number of files and return results via a web page that would be accessible via a company intranet?

To give background, there are around 50 users that constantly reference a file server powered by 2008 R2 with several TB of data.  Windows Search has been less than stellar, and Everything Search seems to provide some help, but doesn't seem to allow for much customization in results.

Any advice that you guys provide is appreciated.
