I have these files which I think worked fine for me with Derby database, perhaps they could be helpful to you
AddressBookDisplay.java
Person.java
PersonQueries.java
for_yanCommented:
You see in the code above I have this part:
public class PersonQueries
{
  // private static String URL = "jdbc:derby:AddressBook3;create=true";

     private static String URL = "jdbc:derby:AddressBook3;user=deitel;password=deitel";

Open in new window

I think it means that first time you need to run it with create=true
and subbsequent times you need to remove that; as first tiime it creates the database and schema for you

rename this folder D:\newdemo.
I'm guessing youare specifying create=true and the database is already created

Please, don't post your code as Word documents; attach them as plain text files

As per your instruction i changed my code

            System.out.println("load the embedded driver");
            Properties props=new Properties();
            props.put("user", "s");
            props.put("password","s");

           con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby:D:/newdemo",props);

but still its not working.. pls help..
for_yanCommented:
post yourt code not in the form of word document but as text files

are you using create=true in your connection string
for_yanCommented:
this connection string is not right:

   con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby:D:/newdemo",props);
for_yanCommented:
try frst to create your database in the default folder then youy don't need to use this "D:/" insied your connection string
for_yanCommented:
this is how it worked for me:

 private static String URL = "jdbc:derby:AddressBook3;user=deitel;password=deitel";

so try

 private static String URL = "jdbc:derby:newdemo;user=user;password=user";

and be cautious about this create+true first time but not next time
daydreamer6565Author Commented:
how to create database in the default folder?
for_yanCommented:
look at my code:
 private static String URL = "jdbc:derby:AddressBook3;user=deitel;password=deitel";

with this conecction striung it creates the folder AddressBook3 in the default folder and that folder conatins database

But first time you shshould use create=true in the connection URL.

I suggest that you take my code - compile and run it - I know it ran for me - so you should have idea how it works.
I rememeber that fisrt time you need to have create=true in connection string and next time you should wither remiove it or rename the folder, or change the name of dtaabse say to AddressBook4 in connection string.

Try to run my code and I hope yyou'll get some understanding how this derby stuff works.
Then it would be easier to move to yourt stuff
