How do you configure SNMP

I want to monitor server temperature and was told snmp is the best way to do this.  I have Dell servers.  I've never set up snmp so I'd appreciate some detailed instructions on how to set it up and then configure it

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

OK.  The instructions apply to all snmp or just What's Up Gold?
my apologies, ignore the second link i thought that the whatsupgold was the company which commissioned the paper. I would use the first link, let me look into it for you further

If you have Dell Servers, are you using Dell OpenManage Server Admin?  That can monitor everything for your Dell Server.. You can download it from the Dell website.
You can easily setup SNMP from here.
