Changing Printer Paper size that updates to the printer settings in control panel

How can I change the paper size of the printer to a custom size.
I have tried it, but it did not save it, when I go to printer preferences in printers and faxes in control panel.
I want it to update in the printer settings as well?

If you are changing the settings for one particular document or applications it wont update.. You have to update from the devices and printers - Printing preferences..

If you are using a network printer that is a different case.. If it a local printer that is a different case.. In network printers - when you add printer all the settings in the printsever will be downloaded into the desktop and from there you can use it.. and change the paper settings ..

But if it is a local printer set up you can set the custom size to your desired.

It also depends on the drivers and some times model of the printer.

Please let me know type of usage(network/local) of the printer and model of the printer(HP Laserjet 9000) like that. Let me know these things I will try to give you a right solution.
