VSS

My SBS 2008 server has started reporting the following event error every few hours.

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine ConvertStringSidToSid. hr = 0x80070539. Operation: OnIdentify event Gathering Writer Data Context: Execution Context: Shadow Copy Optimization Writer Writer Class Id: {4dc3bdd4-ab48-4d07-adb0-3bee2926fd7f} Writer Name: Shadow Copy Optimization Writer Writer Instance ID: {1ffa5ff7-93ab-47f0-aaf9-2ce44e9d436b}

Any suggestions on correcting this problem?

Please see post below. I have seen this a few times and this has helped in fixing the issue. It is caused by a bad registry key in ProfileList. Make sure to backup the key before deleting it. Changing the registry should be done at your own risk.
