We are starting a project that will include peoples from outside the company being asssigned tasks and having to provide status reports.  I know that users inside the company can set up outlook to access the project server and download tasks into thier outlook.  Based on that, here are my questions:

1. Can i set project server to "push" tasks out via email to all resources - both inside and outside our exchange system?
2. If i cannot "push" from project server, is there a way for outside users to be sent thier tasks?

FYI, We are not going to pt share point outside of our network.

Thanks,

Hi,

there are two very different functions in EPM 2007:

1. Send mail notifications to assigned resources (push). This only needs an email address for the resource and also works for external team members

2. Pull (only!) assigned tasks into my Outlook task list or calendar. This unfortunately requires access to the project server's PSI interface which can only be accessed by http. So unless you either allow external users access via VPN or setup an IP  forward in your firewall where external users connect to a public URL that then forwards to your internal projectserver's URL, you're stuck. Sorry!

Regards

Thomas
