: Peer Unreachable - asterisk

I'm using asterisk 1.8/ubuntu, sip only. Somewhere along the process of putting a call on hold i'm gettig 'sip_poke_noanswer: Peer Unreachable' which i understand is asterisk not being able to reach the sip agent, BUT it can make outgoing calls, so it must be reaching the asterisk box????

We need more information to help you. Is the sip  device on the same LAN or remote? Please provide the logs of this call so that we can see what is happening. Preferably with sip debug turned on for that peer. You can get the proper trace by going to the command line and typing "set verbosity 4" and typing "sip set debug peer <extension>" then place the test call. Select the lines generated absent paste them into notepad and attach the file here.

Do you think that having two sip phones registered with different extensions but on the same pc might be relevant?

I'm surprised that two instances would start on a single computer since both would try to register the same port but if it did start I could see why the second one would not be available.

I was saying that as this did magically clear the 'peer unreachable' and I felt a little sheepish when I realised what I had done.
