When running the application that I work on (ie develop), it crashes the JVM. This is happening on a recently installed Windows 7 64 bit. One the same machine with (previously) Win Xp 32 bit, this never happened. I use jvm args: -Xmx1024m -Xms1024m

Any ideas about what is going wrong and how to fix it?

It is not probable that you can do anything - it is probably that this new JVM
has some issues with the system. Perhpas next update of Java will have these resolved.
If you don;'t have any specific memory needs you can probably still use 32 bit JVM on this 64 bit machine, maybe it will be more stable.

Switching from java 6.18 to 7u2 prevent the crash.
