I keep thinking I must be crazy, but I am having a hard time finding out if regular DIMM's will go into our HP9040 or if I need to buy the RIDICULOUSLY priced HP memory.  Are they not the same?  They look the same.  I can get 512MB for $30 or HP 512MB for $720!

Despite my Googling.... I have not found a definitive answer.  What know ye, Obi-Wans?

I went to this link:

http://www.upgradecomputermemory.com/ram.cfm/memory/H/HP-Memory/LaserJet/9040

They recommend a module that is only 50 bucks so I would say you don't have to buy HP brand.

Many thanks!  I just did this on Crucial.com too with a similar result.  Wow.  What a massive, massive price-gouging scam.

Seen that before.  I'm not exactly sure what is behind that, seems like HP would want to sell every supporting piece of hardware and software for their printers at a price that would make people actually by from them.
