within my ERP program, users need to send email. I have been using modprof w/ outlook 2000. This allows the users to click on send mail, inside the application, the application calls on outlook 2000 and modprof logs them into their outlook profile.  Now the users mailboxes have been moved to exchange 2010 and outlook 2000 is not compatable.

Is there an alternative to modprof for the later versions of outlook?

There is no Alternatives for ModProf for later versions of outlook.
This utility was discontinued and non longer supported after Support for Office 2000 also stopped

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271786

IN later versions of outlook, OUtlook Changed the way that prf files could be worked with, without the utility

The link below, provides some tips on how
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/tips-for-using-outlook-prf-files-to-configure-profiles/

Now if the only reason your were using modprof is for the ability to send from your ERP Program, its likely that it was only using Send To

Without knowing the ERP Program and its setup, its likely creating a new Send to For Outlook may work in outlook 2000.

If it doesnt, you may want to try upgrading one of the client to a minimum of 2003.
Create  a Send To, using Outlook 2003 and see if it can be used via the ERP Program

http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/create-a-custom-send-to-shortcut/

Failing that, It would probably be best to contact the Supplier or Vendor of your ERP Program. Surely they would realize they are in the 21st Century now and have updates to their application that does not require Outlook 2000

in the erp it select the send to, which brings up outlook 2000 (Default Profile) then modprof logs them into their outlook profile. I tried using outlook 2003 years ago with no joy. Will try it again.

If it uses a SendTo

It will be using MAPIMAIL to send the email.

In saying that Outlook 2003 should technically work

ONly thing you need to be aware of, is oftern (usually during an Upgrade)
The MAPI dlls can become broken or corrupt,

When this happens SendTo will not work properly

What you need to do after the Upgrade is fix the MAPI Dlls by renaming them or deleting them, while outlook is closed

Next tiem you open outlook they will be recreated and the Send To should work again

The link below will show you how.
http://www.ctimls.com/Support/KB/Error%20Fixes/Fix_Mapi_error.htm

If you can get it to work in 2003, theres a possibility it might even work in 2007 or 2010 as they still use MAPIMAIL

But lets try with 2003 first
