CompilationLock error on build

Hi,

I use Visual Web developer 2010. A project was running fine until yday. I didnt do any configuration changes since a long time. Today it is giving me many build errors; the first one is copied below:
The type initializer for 'System.Web.Compilation.CompilationLock' threw an exception.

I had VS 2008 open and running when I opened 2010. That is when the errors started coming up. I have restarted IIS, Visual Web Developer 2010, my computer; but the errors are still showing up. I am running VWD 2010 as admin.

When I browse to the website (without compiling), it looks fine. The most recents changes are also reflected in there. But I can't build the project

Any workarounds?

Thanks,

Is the web site running from IIS?  What is the target framework for the web site on IIS?
