sbs 2003 box with a 85 gig exchange DB! help

A client has a sbs 2003 box and they let the store grow to 75.... then 83 or so, now 85! i have been tasked with getting it sorted out.  obviously dismounts every 48 hrs. etc. probbably a little corrupt too.

we purchased gfi mailarchiver - installing on the sbs 2003 tonight - but it does not delete the mail from exchange - we need to do that.

what is the best way to go about this scenario? with less downtime?

i hate the idea of running eseutil on that thing --- it will take a week. server is new hardware but it is 32 bit and it will be slow.  drives are SAS.

we need to get this fixed so any help guys would be great!   maybe put all of the mail in GFI?  anyone have experience doing that and then dialtone mailbox and reimport?

help!

Have the users delete as much as possible.  Move more to public folders, Move more to pst files until you get this sorted.  You are going to have an ongoing issue with this if you can't get them to mend their ways.

Exchange 2007/2010 offer practically unlimited exchange storage..... I think it is time to move up.

ASKER

trust me i have been trying to have them do a migration but no..... so its me who gets to try to fix things after hours.

so i guess i will start with the gfi mailarchiver and try to get lots of the data in that. they already paid for it.

i guess i am looking for what to do with the massive mailbox store since GSI only takes it out and not remove them.

hmmm
