How do I setup a html to be dispalyed automatically?

Hi, we have IIS 7
I added a folder under wwwroot folder and I put a default.html file in it.  I also in IIS under the default website there it shows my new folder,  I added a Virtual directory and converted this folder to an application but I'm still getting error if I just enter the http://www.defaultdomainname.com/newfolderName.  However, it will display the html file correctly if I put http://www./defaultdomainname.com/newfolderName/default.html as the url.  How can I set it up that it will automatically display the html file without having to append the file name in the url.  Thank you.
