ZTE Mobile broadband

Hi,

The thing is, I got 2 laptops which I need to run Mobile broadband on, but the software that the modem provides is not working on the 2 laptops. So I tested it on my own laptop, and it works great… I started to look at the applications that is installed on the 2 other laptop where the software isn’t working, and I found applications that might block for the software to run, like Norton.. I uninstalled the applications that I thought could be the problem. Still not able to run Mobile Broadband at all.. In the event viewer I get fault on MCSERVER.exe when trying to start Mobile broadband application:

Navn på program med fejl: mcserver.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, tidsstempel: 0x4e5c9bf2

The modem is a ZTE MF820D and running OS is Windows 7 pro 64 bit
Sorry about the Danish language, I can translate if you need it

I know the easiest solution is to try and reinstall Windows 7, but It will take 4-5 hours and my co-worker will not be able to work.. :-(

Anyone got a solution ?? I have been google for at least an hour after solutions and the mobile broadband company doesn’t wanna help out, although it’s their product :|

best regards

It might have to do with DEP, have a look at: http://www.updatexp.com/0xC0000005.html (it's a winXP article but might apply to win7).
Perhaps that might help you.

Thanks for translation ;-)

Permission problem??

The user is administrator.

The  user can have admin level and still get ownership problems if the program wasn't installed for everyone to use instead of only for the user that installed it.

If the adapter/modem shows up in devmgmt.msc without any yellow triangles (i.e. the drivers are installed and recognized), I would bypass the connection software altogether and make a dialup connection for it in Internet Options on the Connections tab.

Hi guys,

Thank you for good answers.. I guess I was lucky to find the solution myself. The program which caused the problem with ZTE Mobile broadband software is Intel Wifi software. Somehow it blocks the ZTE Software... So its working now and the co-workers are happy :-)

Have a nice weekend
