Inner join lists-update different list from workflow (SharePoint)

I have 2 lists.  When I create a new item in list 1, I want a workflow to be triggered that does the equivalent of an inner join between the 2 lists.  It then updates list 1 with the Email Address listed in list 2.  Workflows are archane and frustrating.  Ideas?

Sharepoint designer workflow on list1
<condition>
if current item:keyword = list2:keyword
<action>
update list2:email = list1:email
where current item:keyword = list2:keyword
