I have a new rack coming in, first time using one, we have are going to be ordering servers and adding our current bunch of Cisco routers etc in the rack.

So I need to purchase a Rack Mounted LCD w/KVM.
I need to connect to Windows Servers that will be mounted in the rack, easy enough.
But I also ned to be able to communicate with the Routers via the serial port and not rely on using a connected server to do it.

All I seem to see out there is one or the other, either a Rack Mounted LCD that connects to KVM and therefore my Windows Servers or a Rack Mounted LCD that connect to consoles..

Is there anything that does both?

ACS 6000 Advanced Console Server will do the serial ports, but you would need a separate KVM switch for video.

AdderView RDX 5000IP also but again serial is separate unit although integrated.

What make of servers are you using? http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13474_div/13474_div.html supports serial, however you use up one KVM port for each serial device you connect to it so for example the 8 port model would support 4 servers plus 4 switches/routers. (It's made by Avocent so there's probably a generic one).

ADDERView RDX 5000IP is perfect but 3X the price of others that are similar, plus it still needs the CATx CONSOLE Serial CAM to work.

I wonder if the CATx CONSOLE Serial CAM will work with any KVM that is similar to this??

Have you taken into account that it has monitor included in that price and that it supports remote IP users?
