Playing a DVD on a Mac

Any time I insert a movie DVD into my Macbook, iMovie automatically launches instead of DVD Player. Any idea how I can fix that? I went into DVD Player's preferences and checked the box that says "launch when disc is inserted", but that had no effect - iMovie always starts, then I have to close iMovie and launch DVD Player manually from the Applications folder to get it to play the disc.

In System Preferences, locate the CDs and DVDs icon in the Hardware section. Click that icon, then use the appropriate dropdown boxes to control what you want to happen when a DVD is inserted.
