Hyper-V Guest - 2nd NIC not accepting ip assignment

Hi all,

I have assigned a second network card to a guest server.  When I log on to the server the second nic shows up but when I assign an IP address to it ... it doesn't stick.  See the attached photos showing the windows assignment and the command line ipconfig.

Any thoughts on why the ip address won't stick???

Hello,

Try from command line:
netsh interface ipv4 add address “VLAN1-172.1.100.100” 172.1.100.100 255.255.0.0

I'm embarrassed to admit it but when I ran your suggested command bigeven2002 it gave me a message that the object already exists.  I had left my test machine up with an identical IP address.  As soon as I changed the address to a .101 it worked fine.  Thanks for that netsh, that is pretty handy!

The command gave me the information I needed to determine the problem.
