SBS 2008 Backup and VSS writers failing

Apparently VSS Writers (shadow copy) are having issues with timing out due to performance. I raised the server ram to 16 gb and it worked for a couple days. now failing again. Usually a reboot fixes the issue but last time I tried that didn't work. Dr backup says it's the performance of HDD system, configured his backup to run without VSS, now his run fine, but my locals are failing. Anyone have a fix for VSS writers timing out? or another way for local backup to run.. without spending money of course.

Unusual issue you are experiencing.  Have you used all the VSS fixes found on the net, such as re-registering them and so on?

Have you run through the wizard and "un configured" the SBS backup then configured it again?  Be carefull that no external drives or unnecessary folders are being included.

As always, download and run the SBS BPA, and fix anything it finds.  www.sbsbpa.com
