Exchange 2010 restore

I am restoring an Exchange 2010 backup from one organization to a server in another separate organization using redirection to the restore environment server.  We created a restore storage group to restore this database to.

The database is restoring correctly, the restore succeeds, and the EDB files are present.  However, the databases will not mount after restore.  We dumped the status of the database with "ESEUTIL /MH" and it comes back dirty shutdown.  We did an "ESEUTIL /P" which completes but the database still fails to mount.

Is this even possible?  Can I restore a database from another organization to this lab restore environment that we have? I would expect to see the mailboxes all as orphaned, and be able to extract the data out of them, but try as I may, this just does not work.

EDB extract programs also cannot see any valid data in  these EDB files...other known good databases can be acecssed using these EDB extract programs.

Can anyone help me with this?
