I just started an IT consulting business and now have a few clients that have networks that I support. I am looking for a software solution that will enable me to be notified when their networks/server goes down. Something very basic, that just pings their IP Address/port. I was using Spiceworks, but it didn't have (or I couldn't figure out) that basic functionality across the open internet. <br />

The process is performed through the use of tools developed for monitoring and analyzing network activity. Network problems that involve finding an optimal way of doing something are studied under the name combinatorial optimization. Examples include network flow, shortest path problem, transport problem, transshipment problem, location problem, matching problem, assignment problem, packing problem, routing problem, Critical Path Analysis and PERT (Program Evaluation & Review Technique).
