Help with Wordpress and posting in a category

I am absolutely new to WordPress as I have been asked to post our Open Audition Call for a Film Production.  I have been given a wordpress site, to post the article or blog or whatever it may be called, however I can't seem to find a way to post or publish or submit the Open Casting Call in the Category of Sydney Auditions in the Casting Notices Wordpress site.

The URL of the wordpress, I have been asked to post our Notice in is http://castingnotices.wordpress.com/category/sydney-auditions/
The URL I believe of the wordpress is http://castingnotices.wordpress.com/

I have registered my name and all that, but I can't for the life of me work out how to post the Audition Notice in the categories.

HELP!!!!

Can you log in to the Wordpress backend?  If so, do you see the Posts option on the left?

I don't know what you mean by backend.  As I said, I am very new to Worddpress.
When you login to WordPress, you should be taken to the backend, also called the Dashboard.  It looks something like this:

If you don't see that or something very similar to it, you have some other issues going on.

Yes, I do see this when i log in.  So now, how do I post this casting Notice into the Category that I have been asked to do.

It would be great if you could give me a detailed account of what how I publish the post onto the Casting Notice category as asked earlier.  I know how to write up a post, I just can't work out how to publish or submit it into the casting notices category.
1) Go to the Posts menu item and click "Add New" to begin a new post.

2) Look on the right side of the screen and you should see two boxes...Publish and Categories.

3) In the Categories box, select the "All Categories" tab and locate the category you want to add the post in.  You can select more than one category.

4) After adding the categories, enter the post content and hit the Publish button above the Categories box.

If you don't see these two boxes on the right exactly as I have it, don't worry.  They are moveable and it is possible to default them to different areas.  It's also possible to hide them using the "Screen Options" link on the upper-right corner.   However, a default "vanilla" Wordpress instance should have them to the right of the content area as I show above.

Great I have done all that you have said and it looks fine, except for one problem.

The only category I have showing on my "All Categories" section is "Uncategorized".  So I guess the big question is how do I get all those other categories showing in my Category section to select them.
