Is this on Exchange? or your own POP system?  For Outlook 2010 on a POP system, each email account has its own PST file. Accordingly, your default calendar should be with your default email account.

I solved that problem by combining my email accounts into one PST file. That way, I only have one calendar.

If Exchange, make sure you are using the calendar that goes with your Exchange account.
