Print to/from email chronology

Currently, it is not easy to log every incident when an exchange between two people goes wrong. To make matters worse, I use online gmail as opposed to a more robust email client like Outlook.

I'm looking for a 'case building' software perhaps, or at least some way to make it possible to print a history of emails to and from a particular person or people in logical order, without having to painstakingly sort it all out manually.

My thinking is that I could print the long list of correspondence in order to make it easier to point out the items of importance to a supervisor.

Assistance is greatly appreciated.

Even when using gmail, you can still use a local email client. The one I use (Opera) will list all emails to/from one or more contacts as soon as you click on them in the contact list. You could also use the search facility to extract emails containing a keyword from this list. As usual the list can be sorted by date, subject, etc.

I would expect other email clients can do something similar, although perhaps not as easily or quicly. As Opera stores its email in an indexed database and does not use folders (although you can simulate them), retrieving lists like these is almost instantaneous.

If you use a local client, make sure it is not set to delete emails on gmail. In Opera, the default is to delete emails on the server when the local copy is deleted. That would mean that a) you loose your backup, and b) those emails are no longer available when you log in from a PC without Opera.
