I'm trying to setup a new sharepoint foundation 2010 site. I have chosen my site type as blog and everything is working fine but on the side menu where it shows the default menu for a blog like categories, I want to to show the default quick launch for a team site type. Can you guys help me out on how to achieve this?

Hello,
To show a Quick Launch you need to add it to the blog's Master Page file.
You need to customize the Master Page using SharePoint Designer and add the Quick Launch control to the page wherever you want. The easiest way is to copy Quick launch part from a team site's Master Page to your blog's Master Page.
