parallels machine not working

I have a mac book running parallels 5 that has an XP machine running. the xp machine is not booting, gives meassage ntloader not present. I am trying to perform a windows repair. but the xp machine will not shut down so I can configure the boot order for the CD. i have to force shutdown parallels then I cant get to anything parallels. when parallels is open, the  XP machine cycles and nothing happens. How to fix?

You could try the steps in this article. I have used the parallels KBs in the past with success.
