In regards to Cisco constantly changing their Software Downloads Policy, can I still purchase a smartnet contract for a Cisco 6506-E and then download any IOS for my WS-SUP720-3BXL? Or would I need to smartnet the Supervisor to do that?

Thanks.

My understanding is:

1) The contract is for the 6505-E, it covers everything in the Chassis.

2) However, you can't download ANY IOS.  You can only download the IOS that has the feature set/license originally purchased.  Example: You purchased IP SERVICES only.  You can't download IP SERVICES SSH, Advanced Enterprise Services, or any of the other 5 or 6 feature sets.

If you want more/different feature set/license you need to "upgrade".

If you go here:

http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/

Select search by platform, then select your SUP, version and release, you can then see what feature sets/license are available.
