RSS Feed

I want toprovide updates of my site to another web site using RSS ? Is it mandatory that we submit the RSS feeds to third party sites?

Can we avoid submitting the feed to third party sites and have it between few sites. How do we do this?

RSS is just simply a news feed.  Whether it is private or public is really up to you..  I know SharePoint, Concrete 5 CMS and various other software packages out there have an RSS feed inbuild to their product..  Whether you want to keep that private or submit that to Google is really your choice.  :)

What we all must do is not to submit the RSS to other sites, but subscribe from another sites to our site's RSS feed.

Let me me put it this way.

There are two applications . One which has rss feeds(or produces rss feeds) and another which need to consume. Assuming both of them are ASP.NET apps.

What do we need to do for the first application. I know we need to create xml file. How do we host this? As a simple xml file in virtual directory?

How the second ASP.NET reads this programatically display the latest feeds ? What do we need to do here?
