I was kind enough to get this code from an expert on this website. However, when I try to duplicate what he did it doesn't come out right.

Okay what I am trying to do is add the combo box to display serial numbers. Now the original field from the table that is not a combo box. He took a unbound combo box and put code in it to search for serial numbers from the Serial Number field in the  table that holds all the serial numbers in it.

Here is the code that is done After Update:="[Serial Number] = " & "'" & [Screen].[ActiveControl] & "'"

When I display my  combo box that is unbound nothing shows up in the drop down of my form.  Im not getting any errors either.

So what is the rowsource of your Unbound Combobox?

What has the AfterUpdate event to do with the Combobox?

What thread are you referring too? You might post this as well.

Yes thanks for the reference.

So what do you have right now in place for your Combobox?
When a Combobox is blank, there is either something not mathing in the rowsource (query) or there is no recordsource at all.

Below a link on how to create a Combobox:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/create-a-list-of-choices-by-using-a-list-box-or-combo-box-HA010113052.aspx

Hope this helps,
Daniel
