Creating Powerpoint slide with transparent background

Hello,

I am trying to make a powerpoint slide (or similar document) that will act as a transparent template.  What I would like to do is put some png files on the slide which have transparent backgrounds.  Then I would like to make the background of the slide transparent as well, so that when it is displayed on the desktop, the visual information underneath it is shown.  The only things that would be visible from the template would be the non-transparent portions of the png files.

Any suggestions for how to go about this?  Thanks

There's no way to do this natively to a PPT background. Even though your PNGs are semitransparent, PPT itself is not.

There is an add-in that makes this possible, though. http://officeone.mvps.org/transshow/transshow.html
